Celebrate Disability Pride Month with great films that highlight disability culture and inclusion. From documentaries to feature films, this curated list uses the craft of storytelling to bring people with disabilities to the forefront. For one day in July, The Center for Accessibility will immerse you in films that explore topics like first love in musical form, the invisible disability of mental illness, and surviving in a world that’s gone silent.

A radical reframing of the use of disabled characters in film, gathering hundreds of clips from over a century of Hollywood favorites – viewed with a fresh perspective by on-the-ground disability activists, artists, and scholars. The film screening is followed by Q&A with one of the film’s creators and producers, Dr. Alyson Patsavas.

Join filmmaker Carrie Sandahl, SCAD film professor Michael Chaney, and disability experts in our community to view this important film and discuss how people with disabilities are currently navigating the film industry.

This special screening is a tribute to writer-producer and disability activist Susan R. Nussbaum. The evening will open with her first film, BEYOND DISABILITY: THE FE FE STORIES, featuring the wonderful Empowered Fe Fes of Access Living.

The event will begin at 7:00 pm for a social hour, following an 8:00 pm screening and Q&A with members of the production team.
